Comment on Why is an Expensive German Course more Practical? by Peter D http://languagecoursescentral.com/1895/why-is-an-expensive-german-course-more-practical/comment-page-1/#comment-13326 Peter D Tue, 12 Oct 2010 15:51:15 +0000 http://languagecoursescentral.com/?p=1895#comment-13326 I put my vote in for Rosetta Stone. It's methodologies are awesome! It can also be done inexpensively if you do a little searching. I found it through a college's online language learning program ( http://www.cbcwebcollege.com/shopcart ) and it includes all the levels of German. I found it's a great way to learn, especially if you're just starting out. As a bonus, I like having the headset so that it corrects my pronunciation. I put my vote in for Rosetta Stone. Comment on Ever Tried Learning Mandarin but Failed? Try Fluenz Chinese by Sean http://languagecoursescentral.com/52/ever-tried-learning-mandarin-but-failed-try-fluenz-chinese/comment-page-1/#comment-6504 Sean Fri, 19 Mar 2010 12:18:20 +0000 http://languagecoursescentral.com/?p=52#comment-6504 My friend had the Fluenz program and it is excellent software to learn Chinese. The interface of the software is also very easy to use. One of the advantages of the Fluenz program is that has also video lessons which is lacking in both Rosetta Stone Chinese. Comment on The Italian Connections Rosetta Stone Course and Rocket Italian Lesson by Pete D http://languagecoursescentral.com/1351/the-italian-connections-rosetta-stone-course-and-rocket-italian-lesson/comment-page-1/#comment-3484 Pete D Tue, 01 Dec 2009 16:17:45 +0000 http://languagecoursescentral.com/?p=1351#comment-3484 I haven't tried Rocket Italian yet but I have used the online classroom RosettaStone from a local school, http://www.communitybusinesscollege.edu and I wouldn't say its approach is "traditional." In fact, I get to use all 30 languages and all levels for what comes out to $15 a month and so the price is very non-traditional. Also, the RosettaStone classroom teaching methods are unlike anything I've done before. It's a very interactive language learning environment, which I like and it has a lot of reinforcement techniques. As I said, I haven't used Rocket yet but I have used Mavis Beacon when they added all the games and I can tell you from experience although the games look like they are a lot of fun, I can't say it did anything to improve my learning. It was counter-intuitive but I think I found the games, bells and whistles too distracting. I also like Rosetta for the audio input and audio correction it provides over the Internet. And I can access it from home or at work. I would like to try Rocket some day just to compare but I am really happy with Rosetta.
